In 2015, the Gateway City Parks Program finished the renovation of the plaza that surrounds City Hall, dedicated in 1894. BRR worked with EOEEA and the City on designing an appropriate setting for this magnificent civic building that has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1976. Over the years, paving and an inaccessible concrete walled amphitheater replaced the green space around the building. Now a new accessible granite amphitheater, lighting, lawns and trees provide public space for civic events, ethnic celebrations, food vendors and musicians. Memorials bear witness to the firefighters who died in the Strand Theater fire, war veterans and Thomas Edison.
