Originally the Leverett Saltonstall State Building at 100 Cambridge Street was a 22-story office tower, with ground-level retail space, an underground parking garage, and a landscaped upper plaza. With Elkus | Manfredi Architects, Brown, Richardson & Rowe redesigned the streetscape, plazas, courtyards, planters, walls and steps, and general accessibility as part of a massive redevelopment of the building. The landscaped plaza includes a water wall fountain as a focal point, and the “Garden of Peace” is a memorial to the victims of violent homicide.
