Nathan Tufts Park
Nathan Tufts Park, Somerville, MA
Established in 1893, Nathan Tufts Park and its 18th century Powder House are historic Somerville landmarks. Brown, Richardson + Rowe helped the City implement the recommendations of The Cultural Landscape Report and Master Plan, from 2000. Our firm sought to preserve and maintain this Olmstedian landscape. We opened views to and from the Powder House, enhanced the naturalistic design and historic character of plantings, and repaired historic stonework. Notable aspects of the renovation include the park’s entry, improved circulation and accessibility, and an interpretative program.
